While reasonable people can disagree on the merits of spending gobs of public money on Fayetteville Street, few can dispute that Eddie Money rocks.
City officials recently announced the rock icon will headline the second annual Raleigh Wide Open party along Fayetteville Street on July 21.
For those not familiar with Money's work, just read the city press release: "Mr. Money's long beloved tunes such as 'Two Tickets to Paradise' and 'Baby Hold On' are being joined by his latest release 'You Don't Know Me' that is getting altitude on the Adult Contemporary charts." ("Baby Hold On" has even been selected to appear on the new compilation Mullets Rock Too. No joke.)
And for those music snobs who aren't fans of Money, here's a little more salt in the wound: Councilman Philip Isley informs us that the Drive-By Truckers were originally scheduled to headline but had to cancel.
