Got a quick greenway ride in this afternoon — and I emphasize "quick" because it was a workday after all; this was essentially my lunch hour (or lunch 1 hour, 9 minutes and 47 seconds, to be exact). Rode the lower end of Crabtree Creek and toyed with the idea of detouring onto the Atlantic Avenue mountain bike trails when —
Yikes! Holy There-goes-the-bandit-trail, batman! The trails — and the trees that shrouded the bandit trails from public scrutiny — are gone. Another lesson in the need for public trails on public lands.

Note the mohawk of pine trees spared along the ridge and the orange "Tree Protection Zone" fencing at the base of what used to be the Atlantic Avenue Trails.
The "closing" apparently came within the past month. I was last on the greenway about three weeks ago and the first mention of the trails being eliminated on trianglemtb.com was Tuesday.
