Newspaper bloggin'
We launched, by one count, our 45th blog last week. It's Crosstown Traffic by Bruce Siceloff, our transportation and traffic reporter, who writes the weekly Road Worrier column.
Blogs have become a great extension of our reporting. They allow us to keep readers up to speed on daily developments and big issues in all kinds of areas: grammar, ACC sports, pop culture, Wake politics, TV and music, to name just a few. The most comments right now seem to appear on the WakeEd blog by Keung Hui, our Wake schools reporter.
Comments seem to draw some familiar names over and over. A few blogs have drawn a variety of commenters. Keep reading and sending feedback as this medium develops as part of The N&O's work.

It seems like many of the blogs receive feedback via direct e-mail to the bloggers, as opposed to comments posted like this one. Is that true?

... I've been a bit amazed at the paucity of comments; but some posts produce numerous comments, so it appears that the blogs are read. Did you envision this type of participation? Or one that was more of a public interaction? Just curious.

Sorry about the split comment above. I was trying to figure out why I kept getting a message stating "Your language is a bit too salty for our forum." I removed the word "e-l-i-c-i-t" and the comment was accepted. Is there a meaning I don't know about? Maybe "e-l-i-c-i-t" is spam-ese for "i-l-l-i-c-i-t"?

I am looking forward to a Blog that allows N&O Readers to comment on new technologies (performance, pricing, truth in advertising, etc.)

To answer the question from tgs above, I started the blog as another way to hear from readers, to answer questions and to provide insight into our decisions here. Ted Vaden, our public editor, started a blog about the same time, so readers now have two places to go.
I'd welcome more questions and comments on the coverage -- this is the kind of interaction that happens when I speak in public, for instance, during quesetion and answer periods.

You speak of "our 45th blog." As I wander, disconsolate now, through your site, I find no complete, comprehensible list of descriptive hyperlinks to the N&O 45. No doubt the fault is entirely mine. Could your perhaps point me to that list, which is of course hidden in plain sight.
Please.
Thank you.
