A different kind of Cup championship

Turns out, the Hurricanes did win one trophy this season.

For the first time in the four seasons it has been awarded, the Canes won the Southern Comfort Cup, awarded by the booster clubs of the Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals to the winner of the season series between those four teams.

The Hurricanes recorded 31 points against those teams, two more than the second-place Lightning. It's the first time the Canes have won this particular Cup.
