Dems Target Blackwater

It's not just Hillary.

North Carolina Democrats are campaigning against Blackwater, according to this item posted by my colleague Ryan Teague Beckwith.

The post undercounts Erik Prince's political contributions: If you count family members, the total is well over a quarter million, all to Republicans. There is one interesting exception: a stealth-GOP contribution to the Green Party of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Not at all suprising to see a Blackwater contribution to Pennsylvania Greens. The PA Republican party, seeing Rick Santorum going down in the 2006 elections, tried to get a Green candidate on the ballot, hoping he would pull votes from Casey. Didn't work, as they had too many bogus signatures on the petitions, but it's the kind of thing of which Erik Prince would surely approve.

About N&O Blogs
Joe Neff Joseph Neff has reported extensively on Blackwater since 2004, when his series, "The Bridge," chronicled the death of four of the company's contractors in Iraq. His subsequent reporting has revealed more about the events of that day as well as the multi-layered contracts that add millions to the cost of running the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Neff, 47, came to The N&O in 1992 and has covered prisons, police, courts and the legislature. His most recent major work was "Rush to Judgment," a five-part narrative series about Mike Nifong and the Duke lacrosse case.
