The great chocolate debate

The Carolina Chocolate Drops' breakthrough year continues. Following this past summer's "Prairie Home Companion" triumph, the Chapel Hill stringband's latest high-profile coup is the soundtrack to Denzel Washington's upcoming film, "The Great Debaters" -- which features the Chocolate Drops on four tracks alongside bluesman Alvin "Youngblood" Hart.

Soul goddess Sharon Jones is also on the soundtrack album, which Atlantic Records will release on Dec. 11. The movie is scheduled to open on Christmas day. Meanwhile, the Chocolate Drops will play a Chapel Hill house concert on Saturday.
