UNC's Davis won't listen to other offers

CHAPEL HILL — UNC football coach Butch Davis on Thursday squashed the lingering rumors that continued to link him to his alma mater, saying, “There is no interest in the University Arkansas coaching job.”

Asked if he could say definitely that he would not talk to any other school or listen to any other offers, Davis said: “Absolutely. You got it. Exactly what you said. Exactly.”

Davis received a one-year contract extension and $291,000 raise the day before Thanksgiving.

I like how he keeps saying things without directly saying I or ME.
He is leaving this open for complete speculation...why not say, "I am not interested in the Arkansas job." Instead he says, "There is no interest in the University of Arkansas coaching job." Soooo...your agent is talking to Arkansas...Arkansas has contacted your agent and is talking through him as an intermediary.

I just think this still stinks of Saban-ism.

Just remember that Coach Davis also said he was staying at Miami, then bolted to the Cleveland Browns.

I disagree, folks. Davis is aiming to be here a while, I think. Sure the past is the past, but the present can be the future, too. If Davis continues to see improvement, he will more than likely stay to see it through. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Phillip, what part of "Asked if he could say definitely that he would not talk to any other school or listen to any other offers, Davis said: “Absolutely. You got it. Exactly what you said. Exactly.”
do you not understand?

I don't think Ark. offered Davis a job. He didn't have one offer to compare against the other. Ark did maybe gauge his interest. The way Davis replyed to the statement during his interview (which can be viewed at tarheelblue.com) says more than than the actual words quoted here. Any speculation that Davis is or was ever going to leave is just wishful thinking on the part of people who do not care for UNC football. That is plain and simple.
