CHAPEL HILL — UNC starting cornerback Kendric Williams tore the ACL in his left knee Saturday, tests have revealed, and will not return this season.
Sophomore Jermaine Strong, who replaced Williams after he was hurt in the second quarter, and freshman Charles Brown are listed as possible starters on the depth chart.
Williams is the second defensive starter to be lost for the season because of injury, joining linebacker Chase Rice (ankle).
Williams, a former walk-on, had earned a scholarship this season. He posted 16 tackles in five games.
