Duke coach Ted Roof
The Duke-Northwestern series in football will be knotted up at 7-7 until Duke (0-2) plays at Northwestern (2-0) on Saturday at 8 p.m.
It isn't that often Duke gets to play the "Duke" of another BCS conference (Big Ten: Northwestern, Big 12: Baylor, Pac-10: Stanford, SEC: Vanderbilt). Unlike Duke, the Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start with win over Division I-AA Northeastern and Nevada.
Northwestern went 4-8 in 2006, the first under Pat Fitzgerald, and according to Roof, are improved.
"They have not turned the football over yet this year," Roof said. "They've won the second half 36 to 7 so they're a second-half football team. They make you defend the entire width of the field. It ought to be a different deal for us — night game, road game, Big Ten game."
