Pack high on Meineke Car Care Bowl radar

Meineke Car Care Bowl officials are taking a strong look at N.C. State after the Pack's four straight victories.

"N.C. State is very much on our radar," executive director Will Webb said today. "If they win one more and become bowl eligible, we'd be very much interested in them.

"We've been watching them closely, especially the way they've come on. You have to be impressed with them given all the injuries they've had."

Webb said representatives from the Charlotte-based bowl would be at the State-Wake Forest game on Saturday. The Demon Deacons also are high on the Meineke Care Care Bowl list, Webb said.

This year's bowl game will be played Saturday, Dec. 29, at Bank of America Stadium with a 1 p.m. kickoff. Webb said possible Big East opponents include Rutgers and Connecticut.

State played in the 2005 bowl game, shutting out South Florida 14-0.

I don't think state should really deserve a bowl bid if they get one more win, if they get two, then yeah, but one is not good enough. I believe that to be bowl eligible a team should have 6 or more wins against Bowl Eligible teams, and since state has 1 win aginast Wofford and D2 school that, that win shouldn't count for bowl contention. IF they win two, that would give them 6 wins against FBS teams. I think that NCAA should go to this system.

Oh really? Well too bad for you that the bowl committee and the NCAA care nothing about what your opinion is. Smart money says, worry about your own team.

If a team is eligible, then they are eligible--end of story. The Pack is an intriguing team right now and deserve to be rewarded for the way they have turned their season around. They also have a fan base that travels very well, which is a key consideration for Bowl officials. Finally, Wofford is not a D2 team, it is in what used to be called 1-AA, and just about every BCS team plays one of them each year.
