Pack makes request for Degand

N.C. State coach Sidney Lowe said today that the school had made a request to the NCAA that point guard Farnold Degand be granted a medical redshirt season.

Degand, a sophomore who started the Pack's first 10 games, suffered a torn ACL last Sunday in State's win over Cincinnati and will not return this season.

Lowe said N.C. State had not received a ruling from the NCAA.

Degand signed with Iowa State and was redshirted as a freshman. He then transferred to N.C. State and sat out the 2006-2007 season under NCAA rules.
