Causey knocks himself out?

Georgia Tech's Matt Causey suffered a minor concussion at the end of the first half last night against Duke, but did he knock himself out?

In a spectacular 5-second performance, Causey dribbles wildly through the lane, sends Jon Scheyer to the floor with an elbow to the chest, then appears to knock himself out trying to sell a flop after minor contact with Greg Paulus.

It certainly seemed that way. I was there last night - but sitting in the last row (behind the crow-s nest where Len Elmore and Mike Patrick were calling the game). I didn't see anything except Causey hitting the floor. However, the ESPN producer in the nest (having access to replay and slo-mo) exclaimed that Causey did indeed "flop and knock himself out cold."

The only thing that surprises me is that Paulus didn't flop at the same time. I know it's late in the season, but maybe Causey can get some pointers from Greg so that he can remain conscious the next time he tries it.

Flopping is an art form -- not for the inexperienced or faint of heart.

Not a flop. Not even close. It is called playing with heart. If you spend a lot of time watching Duke, you wouldn't recognize it.

That angle makes the contact with Paulus seem more incidental than the traditional side angle. The side angle, shown about 15 times last night, revealed a charge by Paulus, without a doubt.

On the other hand, it did look like Causey pushed off Scheyer bigtime.

I don't think the Causey fall was a flop.

if you are like me and got your work done today. (day after the game) I got to watch the game, with no volume, at BW3's in Fayetteville. Initially, I was pissed off about it.

Then, I was able to to simply watch the game for what it was ... DUIke time after time fouling and getting away with it or getting a phantom call for them as they had the ball.

It was truly amazing. I never thought it was possible to get upset at a game I watched the night before, but I DID!!!

Tech guys just shaking their heads in dissaray and laughing.

you guys, given the chance, ought to try it!! one of a kind.

... Rachel Carter ought to never be allowd on this blog again for the blatant favortism.

Even Gigilo doesn't represent this much favortism.

To the comment made by khwisconsin ("It is called playing with heart. If you spend a lot of time watching Duke, you wouldn't recognize it."), that is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Ok, regardless of whether Causey flopped or was fouled, you have to be pretty dim-witted to say that Duke doesn't play with heart. There's a reason that Duke is the most successful program this past decade. You don't achieve that kind of success by playing without heart.

Clearly, in the drive by Causey, it was a poor flop attempt by Scheyer... He should work on flopping in front of the offensive player to draw the foul and that the side flop doesn't draw the charge call much at all...

chazhoo, you must be an idiot to not see CLEARLY Causey was dribbling out of control, and stiffarmed scheyer so he wouldnt come over to block. That was no flop, that was a hard cheap foul that should have been called. And flop or no flop, who tries to block a last second full-court desperation shot? the guy wasnt playin with heart, he was just tryin to be the center of attention. And to whoever called it a charge(without a doubt) should look up the definition. his feet werent planted, he wasnt even facing straight towards paulus. dudes a joke

p.s. if your gonna try to take a charge, dont do it on your tiptoes. thats why he hit his head. no balance.

notice how he switches dribbling hands at the last second to stiffarm scheyer.. ridiculous

I see that the art of recognizing sarcasm has been lost, especially on a post that was clearly ridiculous... Eh, what are you going to do...?
