West Virginia scores one for the Big East, and Bill Stewart.

Oh, and West "By Gawd" Virginia, please hold for UNC on Line 1:

UNC: Yeah, about that promoting the popular assistant who wins big in the bowl game?
WVU: Yeah?
UNC: It doesn't end well.
WVU: What?
UNC: Just call us back in 10 years.

As for Bob Stoops, who has lost four straight BCS games in spectacular fashion: That 2000 title is getting staler and staler and no one remembers the epic victory over Bill Doba and Washington State in the Rose Bowl.

Speaking of Doba...

WVU, it's Washington State on Line 2.

Actually it is not the promoting assistant that kills you it is the hire you make after your fire the guy you promoted. See: John Bunting, Matt Doherty.

See my post "You Look a lot Like Carl Torbush..." over at http://gate21.net

Pretty much goes down that line completely...

Well, Stoops hasn't represented my area very well lately in the bowls, but Mark Mangino, from just over the state line in New Castle, did a great job with Kansas this year.
